To commemorate the 30th anniversary of The Music Loft, we have collaborated with Spector to do a very special run of instruments. To celebrate this joyous occasion, we first travelled to Spector’s USA Custom Shop to select very special sets of wood for some unique one-off custom builds. After conceptualizing those instruments, we knew we wanted to spread the love even further. So when we reached out to Spector about doing a run of custom Euro basses, they were excited to take our ideas and work with us to develop the most elaborate custom Euro basses done to-date.
Our inspiration for these beautiful basses was to combine our favorite features of existing Euro models, but with a twist. First, we started with the wood pairings of the RST basses - utilizing Empresswood (Paulownia) for the body wood and flame maple tops. However, Spector threw us a bone and offered to guarantee AAAA flame maple tops for these builds. Keeping with the RST bass platform, these basses feature a roasted maple neck and matching headstock. However, we pulled from the Euro LT basses to incorporate an ebony fretboard with Mother of Pearl inlays. The other aspect we took from the Euro LT was incorporating the Darkglass Tone Capsule preamp into these builds. However, staying true to what we love to do in our Spector USA builds, the Darkglass Tone Capsule is wired for 18-volts and is fed by a pair of EMG DCX pickups - a very common pairing we do in many of our Spector USA custom builds. But we didn’t stop there. We worked closely with Spector to develop this custom finish we call Tiger Eye Smokeburst Satin, and this finish does a fantastic job of showcasing the beauty of the woods on these basses while feeling great in your hands. The final piece to the aesthetics of these basses also draws from something we very commonly do on our USA custom builds - a charcoal-stained neck. The contrast of the dark stain on neck with the gold and brown hues of the custom Tiger Eye Smokeburst gives these basses and even more unique aesthetic, something that would be equally at home in a metal band as it would in a classic rock band. These basses are adorned with black hardware, Gotoh tuners, Dunlop strap locks, and include a Spector hardshell case. Limited to only 12 pieces, and only available from The Music Loft.
